Zoroastrianism
From a biblical Christian perspective, Zoroastrianism is dangerous because it presents a dualistic worldview that contradicts the truth of God revealed in Scripture. Zoroastrianism teaches that the world is caught between two eternal forces—Ahura Mazda (good) and Angra Mainyu (evil)—suggesting that evil exists independently of God. The Bible, however, teaches that God is sovereign over all things and that evil is a created reality allowed by God for His purposes, not an independent rival to His power (Isaiah 45:7; Romans 8:28). By promoting the idea that salvation depends on aligning with cosmic forces or choosing between dual powers, Zoroastrianism misleads people away from trusting in the one true God and His plan of redemption through Jesus Christ (John 3:16; Colossians 1:13–14).
Zoroastrianism is also spiritually dangerous because it emphasizes works, fire worship, and ritual purity as a means to attain favor with God or escape evil, rather than trusting fully in Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. Scripture makes clear that no human effort, ritual, or moral striving can earn salvation (Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5). By relying on human deeds and mystical ceremonies, Zoroastrianism gives a false sense of hope while keeping people blind to their need for forgiveness and eternal life through faith in Jesus alone. From a Christian perspective, this makes Zoroastrianism a spiritually deceptive system that cannot lead to true salvation.

Objections
1. Claim: “Zoroastrianism teaches a dualistic worldview: good (Ahura Mazda) versus evil (Angra Mainyu).”
Christian Response: Scripture teaches there is one sovereign God who is all-powerful, and Satan is a created being, not equal to God (Isaiah 45:5–7; 1 John 4:4). Dualism falsely suggests that ultimate good and evil are co-eternal, undermining God’s sovereignty and plan of salvation. God triumphs over evil completely through Christ (Colossians 2:15).
2. Claim: “Humans must earn salvation through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds.”
Christian Response: Salvation is by grace through faith, not works (Ephesians 2:8–9). No human effort can atone for sin (Romans 3:23–24). While good deeds are evidence of faith, they are not the basis for salvation, unlike in Zoroastrianism, which makes moral effort the path to ultimate reward.
3. Claim: “Fire is sacred and symbolizes God’s presence; worshipping fire is appropriate.”
Christian Response: Fire in Zoroastrianism is treated as divine, which Scripture forbids. Worship and reverence are due to God alone (Exodus 20:3–5). Objects or symbols cannot mediate God’s presence; God Himself reveals Himself to us in Christ (John 1:14).
4. Claim: “There is an eternal struggle between light and darkness that humans must navigate to achieve purity.”
Christian Response: Scripture teaches that the battle between good and evil is spiritual, but God has already defeated evil through Christ’s death and resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:55–57). Humans do not earn ultimate victory; it is given by God to those in Christ (Romans 8:37–39).
5. Claim: “Zoroastrianism offers hope of salvation through ritual, moral conduct, and adherence to law.”
Christian Response: True salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone (John 14:6). Rituals, ethical behavior, or adherence to laws cannot reconcile a sinner to God (Romans 3:20). Zoroastrianism’s approach leads to self-reliance and spiritual blindness.
6. Claim: “The soul undergoes judgment and eventual reward or punishment based on one’s deeds.”
Christian Response: Scripture teaches that forgiveness and eternal life are offered freely through Christ’s atoning sacrifice (Romans 6:23; John 3:16). Judgment is determined by faith in Christ, not by human merit (Acts 16:31). Zoroastrianism promotes works-based judgment, which contradicts the gospel.
7. Claim: “Spiritual purity and ethical living can protect the world from Angra Mainyu’s influence.”
Christian Response: While moral living is commendable, only God can deliver people from evil (Psalm 34:17–19; Colossians 1:13–14). Zoroastrianism places ultimate responsibility on humans rather than trusting in God’s power and grace.
8. Claim: “Zoroastrianism is one of the oldest and most authentic religions, preserving eternal truths about good and evil.”
Christian Response: Age does not determine truth. God’s Word is eternal and sufficient (Psalm 119:89). Ancient systems may contain moral insights, but they do not reveal the full plan of salvation through Christ (John 1:17).
9. Claim: “The cosmic struggle gives humans purpose and moral accountability in a spiritual universe.”
Christian Response: True purpose and accountability come from being reconciled to God through Christ, not navigating a dualistic struggle (Ecclesiastes 12:13; Romans 8:28). Zoroastrian dualism misrepresents the nature of God and human destiny.
10. Claim: “Zoroastrianism teaches that good ultimately prevails, giving hope of cosmic order.”
Christian Response: Scripture affirms ultimate victory in Christ (Revelation 21:1–4). Hope is found in God’s promises, not in human effort or balancing cosmic forces. Trusting in one’s own ability to tip the balance is spiritually misleading.
