Satanism
From a biblical Christian perspective, Satanism is extremely dangerous because it openly rejects God and exalts rebellion, darkness, and evil. Scripture warns that Satan is “the father of lies” and the ultimate enemy of God and humanity (John 8:44; 1 Peter 5:8). Satanism encourages people to worship or emulate a being that seeks to deceive and destroy, promising freedom and power while ultimately leading to spiritual death and eternal separation from God (Romans 6:23; James 4:4). By glorifying sin, pride, and rebellion, Satanism directly opposes the gospel and the holiness of God.
Satanism is also spiritually harmful because it promotes the pursuit of self-interest, power, and pleasure apart from God, often involving occult practices, rituals, or moral relativism. Scripture teaches that true life, freedom, and purpose are found only in Christ (John 10:10; Galatians 2:20). Any belief system that centers on Satan or denies God’s authority is not merely a philosophical error—it is spiritually lethal, as it leads people away from salvation, blinding them to the grace, forgiveness, and eternal hope offered through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

Objections
1. Claim: “Satanism empowers individuals to embrace freedom, self-expression, and personal power.”
Christian Response: True freedom comes only through Christ, who sets us free from sin (John 8:36). Satan promises liberty but brings bondage, deception, and eternal death (Romans 6:23; 2 Corinthians 11:14). Pursuing self-centered power apart from God leads to spiritual destruction, not fulfillment.
2. Claim: “Satanism encourages moral relativism, teaching that individuals define their own ethics.”
Christian Response: God has revealed absolute truth and moral law in Scripture (Exodus 20; Matthew 5:17–18). Rejecting His standard leads to chaos, sin, and judgment (Romans 1:18–32). Human-devised ethics apart from God cannot provide true justice or spiritual safety.
3. Claim: “Satanism rejects God’s authority and promotes rebellion as a virtue.”
Christian Response: Scripture warns that rebellion against God is sin and leads to eternal separation (Isaiah 14:12–15; James 4:7). Worshiping or following Satan is not empowerment but alignment with the enemy of God and humanity, who seeks to deceive and destroy (1 Peter 5:8).
4. Claim: “Satanism allows individuals to achieve self-fulfillment, wealth, and success by embracing the dark forces.”
Christian Response: Any promise of material gain or personal power through demonic means is false and temporary. God promises blessings to His people, but spiritual and eternal health comes through obedience to Him, not through Satanic submission (Matthew 6:33; James 1:17).
5. Claim: “Satanism provides a sense of community and belonging for those rejected by society.”
Christian Response: While community is important, Satanic fellowship binds people to sin and deception. True fellowship and belonging are found in the body of Christ, where believers are reconciled to God and each other (Hebrews 10:24–25; 1 Corinthians 12:27).
6. Claim: “Satanism is a valid religious choice and a path to enlightenment.”
Christian Response: Satanism is not neutral or benign; it opposes God and His truth (2 Corinthians 4:4). Scripture teaches there is only one way to salvation: through Jesus Christ (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). Any path that exalts Satan is inherently dangerous and leads to eternal separation from God.
7. Claim: “Engaging in Satanic rituals and magic gives spiritual power and protection.”
Christian Response: Occult practices invite deception and demonic influence (Deuteronomy 18:10–12; Galatians 5:19–21). God alone provides protection and spiritual authority through Christ (Ephesians 6:10–18). Attempting to gain power through Satanic means is both futile and spiritually deadly.
8. Claim: “Satanism teaches self-worship and personal autonomy as the highest ideal.”
Christian Response: Scripture calls believers to surrender self to God, not exalt themselves (Luke 9:23; James 4:10). Worshiping oneself or Satan is rebellion and idolatry, leading to spiritual ruin (Romans 1:25). True identity, power, and purpose are found only in Christ.
9. Claim: “Satanism encourages rejecting religious dogma and traditional morality, claiming it liberates the mind.”
Christian Response: Rejecting God’s law is not liberation but enslavement to sin (John 8:34). True spiritual freedom comes through obedience to God’s Word and faith in Jesus, not through rebellion against Him (Romans 6:17–18).
10. Claim: “Satanism promotes exploring the dark side of human nature as a path to self-knowledge.”
Christian Response: Scripture teaches that human nature is sinful and corrupted (Romans 3:10–12). Delving into darkness without God leads to deception, moral corruption, and destruction. True self-knowledge and transformation come only through the renewing work of the Holy Spirit (Romans 12:2).
